May marks a time of growth across the Central Valley, as longer days and warmer weather bring new life to the landscapes around us. It’s a natural invitation to reset, recharge, and spend more time outdoors.
This month, consider taking a walk through a nearby preserve, noticing the changes in the landscape, or simply spending a few quiet moments outside. Whether it’s a familiar trail or a new place to explore, reconnecting with nature can offer a sense of balance and renewal. Places like Kaweah Oaks Preserve, Homer Ranch Preserve, and Dry Creek Preserve offer a chance to experience seasonal change up close. Homer Ranch Preserve will close for the season beginning in June, making May one of the last opportunities to visit on open weekends. Nearby spaces like Mooney Grove Park and the St. Johns River Trail also provide accessible ways to enjoy the outdoors close to home.
If you’re looking to go a step further, consider making it a habit: visit a new place, go at a different time of day, or bring a friend along. Exploring local trails, spending time at a community park, or planning an evening walk as the sun sets can offer a fresh perspective. The turning of the seasons reminds us that small moments outdoors can have a lasting impact—take time this month to step outside and start fresh. |
