Protect Nature Close to Home |
July is a time to appreciate the natural spaces that make the Central Valley unique. As we approach World Conservation Day on July 28, it’s a reminder that conservation isn’t limited to large-scale efforts—it starts with small actions taken close to home.
This month, consider one simple way to support local wildlife and natural resources. You might reduce water use in your yard through water-wise landscaping, remove an invasive plant using resources from the California Invasive Plant Council, pick up litter during a walk, or add a native plant to your landscape through SRT’s Dry Creek Native Plant Nursery. Small choices can help create healthier habitats for the plants and animals that share our communities.
You can also take time to reconnect with the places conservation helps protect. Visit a local trail, spend an evening outdoors, or explore one of SRT’s preserves. Observing nature firsthand is one of the best ways to deepen our connection to the landscapes around us.
Looking for an easy place to start? Challenge yourself to take one conservation action this month and encourage a friend or family member to do the same. Together, small efforts can make a meaningful difference in protecting the places we value for future generations. |
