I hope you are enjoying the final days of summer as we prepare for one of Blue Faery's busiest times of the year.

If you follow Blue Faery on social media, read our newsletters, visit our website, or see one of our programs promoted online, you are already familiar with the work of our Communications Manager, Chasity Moody. Chasity joined our team in 2025 and helps bring Blue Faery's programs, resources, and patient education to the people who need them.

One of the things she values most about her role is the opportunity to connect directly with patients and caregivers. Through social media, she sees their responses to our work, hears their feedback, and witnesses the impact of Blue Faery's mission in real time.

That connection is especially important as we recognize Hispanic Heritage Month and prepare for two upcoming Love Your Liver workshops in October. Both workshops will be presented in Spanish and will continue our commitment to making liver health education more accessible to the communities we serve.

October will also bring Liver Cancer Awareness Month, as well as our next HCC Lunch & Learn on October 24, 2026, at University of Chicago Medicine. This free, in-person program will give patients, caregivers, and community members the opportunity to learn directly from experts about liver health, liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, treatment, and support.

As we prepare for these programs, we are also continuing to share patient education resources, amplify the voices of patients and caregivers, and expand the ways people can connect with reliable liver cancer information throughout the year.

As Communications Manager, Chasity helps ensure all those pieces reach our community clearly and consistently. She is somehow doing all of that while she and her husband pack up their home in Athens, Georgia, for a move to Florida—because apparently Blue Faery's busiest season was not quite enough of a challenge.

We are grateful for her creativity, thoughtfulness, and commitment to keeping patients and caregivers at the center of our communications.

Here is to a fall filled with education, connection, and meaningful impact.

Blue Faery's Patient Resource Guide for Liver Cancer provides clear, accessible information for patients and families navigating a liver cancer diagnosis. The latest edition is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese, and all Blue Faery patient education materials are provided free of charge. Healthcare providers can also order free guides for their treatment centers.

Your support helps put these guides in the hands of patients and caregivers around the globe. 

We're looking for two volunteers to help support our Chicago HCC Lunch & Learn on October 24. If you're interested in lending a hand and being part of the Blue Faery team for the day, please reach out to our Communications Manager.

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities while also highlighting health issues that disproportionately affect them. As part of Blue Faery's Love Your Liver Hispanic Heritage Month program, we will host two free online workshops in October, presented in Spanish, to share practical information about liver health, risk factors, prevention, and liver cancer.

Missed our latest The Truth About Liver Cancer workshop? In Survivor Stories, members of the liver cancer community shared their experiences, perspectives, and lessons learned along the way. These personal stories offer encouragement, insight, and a reminder that no one has to navigate liver cancer alone.

At ASCO 2026, Blue Faery volunteer Nicole Wright-Derks spoke with CURE during the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting about attending on behalf of her mother, who is living with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Nicole shared why access to experts and emerging treatment information matters for patients and caregivers, her hope for continued advances in cancer care, and the importance of early detection for people with underlying liver disease.
