Check out the new Chocorua Lake Live Cam & sunset and sunrise time lapses HERE. The live cam also allows you to scroll back through the last 12 hours to see non-time lapsed sunsets or sunrises or thunder storms, to watch the speed of ice melt on a warm spring day, and more. We hope this will bring you pleasure and connection when you are far from the Basin, and inspire you to sit in the Grove watching the sunrise or sunset unfold if you are in the area.

We are deep in summer now: steamy heat and then the relief of a cool night or breezy day. People are enjoying the lake at all hours and deer flies—a pollinating insect as well as a source of discomfort to humans—are enjoying the woods! Scroll down to learn about the latest plantings on the eastern shoreline of the lake, upcoming educational programs and events, and to see some of the beauty we've been noticing in the Lake Basin. |

Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Meeting! |
We hope you enjoyed learning about CLC’s new 2025-2030 Strategic Plan and our mission-guided work over the past year, and had fun at the cookout with friends old and new.
We are so appreciative of everyone’s help setting up, moving chairs and tables, preparing and cooking food, bringing delicious desserts (wow so many amazing desserts!), and cleaning up. |

A Legacy Circle challenge |
CLC's Legacy Circle recognizes people who contribute to the longterm, multigenerational sustenance of CLC through a planned gift such as a provision in a will or beneficiary designation in an IRA, 401(k) or life insurance policy. (Designating CLC as a partial beneficiary can take as little as 15 minutes—log into your account or call your financial institution.)
If you notify us by December 31, 2025 that you've made a planned gift to CLC, we will receive an additional $500 gift from another Legacy Circle household. You can complete a non-binding Notification of Intent form HERE, or learn more below. |

Sundew (genus Drosera), one of the extraordinary plants you might meet during a Lake Ecology Paddle. Sundew is adapted to lower nutrient lakeshore and wetland habitats, and is carnivorous. This small, delicate plant catches insects in its sticky "dew", digesting them to supplement the poor mineral nutrition of their habitat.
Charles Darwin, who studied the genera Drosera intensively, wrote in a letter the year after the first publication of his seminal Origin of the Species, "at the present moment, I care more about Drosera than the origin of all the species in the world." | Galen Kilbride |

More planting at Chocorua Lake! |
Our latest plantings include Pennsylvania sedge, Carex pensylvanica, one of the earliest blooming sedges; blue wood aster, Symphyotrichum cordifolium, a shade-tolerant "pollinator powerhouse plant" that is a wonderful late-season nectar source for pollinators; and foamflower, Tiarella cordifolia, a beautiful spring bloomer that attracts bees and other pollinators, and functions as a natural mulch, helping retain moisture in the soil below.
